教学过程
Step 1. Warming up
T: Good morning, boys and girls! Nice to meet you!
Ss: Nice to meet you, too!
T: First let’s sing the phonics song. And let me hear your voice, OK?
Ss: Yeah!
T: OK! Let’s sing!

Step2 Lead-in
The teacher shows the picture of The Voice of China.
T: Look! What’s this?
Ss: 中国好声音。
T: Yes, it’s The Voice of China, the hottest program this summer. Do you like it?
Ss: Yes.
T: Great! And today, let’s have a game, that is, “The Voice of Class7.” To begin with, I’ll divide you into four groups. (The teacher shows four pictures of the four tutors: Qi Qing, Wang Feng, Na Ying, Yang Kun) These two lines belong to Group Q, These two lines belong to Group W, These two lines belong to Group N, and you are in Group Y. Let’s see which group will be the winner today.

Step3 Sing the phonics song again
Ask the four groups to sing the four parts of the song.
T: Since it is The Voice of Class 7, let’s see which group can sing the phonics song best. One group sings one part. Are you ready?

Ask each group chooses one students to sing the song again.

T: Yes, you got it! And who can read these words.
(The teacher shows the words: Frank, thanks, jacket, map, black)

Talk about the definitions of open syllables and close syllables.
T: The five letters have different sounds in open syllables and close syllables. Who can talk about what is open syllables and what is close syllables?
(Ask some student to try to make a conclusion about the definitions according to the words given by the teacher.)

Step5 Groupwork
Ask students to find more words.
Group Q: the sounds of “A” ,“E”, “I” in open syllables.
Group W: the sounds of “O”, “U” in open syllables.
Group N: the sounds of “A” ,“E”, “I” in close syllables.
Group Y: the sounds of “O”, “U” in close syllables.
Ask the leaders of the groups to read the words they find to the whole class, and other group tries to spell the words according to the sounds.
T: Times up! Now I’d like to ask the leaders of the groups to come to the front to read the words you find to the whole class. One word, one point. But remember, the leader should read the word three times each. Then other groups try to spell the words according to the sounds. If anyone can spell the word correctly, he or she can also get one point for their group.

Step6 Presentation and practice
Talk about the sounds of the groups of letters.
T: We have talked about the sounds of A,E,I,O,U. And next let’s see some groups of letters. What do they sound like?

Step7 Conclusion
Ask students to read the vowels and consonants.

Show some cards with vowels and consonants, and ask students to read them.

Step8 Assignment
Find more words about open syllables and close syllables.
Read the phonetic symbols we have learned.
