教学目标
By the end of this lesson, the Ss will be able to
1. master the new words: serious, mirror, kid, as long as, necessary, both, grade, should, saying, reach, hand, touch, heart, fact, break, arm, laugh, share
2. review the knowledge about comparative with –(i)er and more;
2. get the specific information through reading;
3. finish reading tasks;
4. know the differences between people.
目标叙写
A等级的学生能够完全熟练认读单词,并且能够运用技巧完成课文后的全部阅读任务;
B等级的学生能够流畅朗读单词课文,并且能够在同伴或教师的帮助下解决困难的题;
C等级的学生能明白文章大意,并且对于不会做的题目,听过讲解后能明白;
D等级的学生能记住高频单词,通过同伴互助能理解文章大意,完成简单题目。

教学步骤
Step1. Warming-up and revision
1. Daily greeting
2. Let Ss report what his/her father and mother are like.
Step2. Pre-reading
1. Present the new words with pictures
Ask “What’s this?”
Introduce this word to them, and then let Ss read them twice and keep them in mind.
2. Exercise: Find out the adjectives and adverbs
Let Ss find out the adjectives and adverbs on the screen, after that, write down their comparative forms.
Answers: outgoing, serious.
Finally, make a sentence—— Spiderman is more outgoing than Superman, but Superman is more serious than Spiderman.
3. Exercise: 2a.
Let Ss write the comparative forms of the following adjectives. Then use them to write five sentences about you and your friends.

Check answers.
Step3. While-reading
Quickly reading
1. Let’s meet 3 new friends, Jeff Green, Huang Lei and Mary Smith. (Write their names on blackboard) What are they like? What do they think of their friends? Now read the passages; underline the differences between the friends and circle the similarities.
2. Check the answers with Ss;
3. Let Some Ss read the passages.
Careful Reading
1. Let Ss read the sentences in 2c;
2. Let Ss read the passage again and judge whether they are true or false;
3. Ss read and find the answers to the question;
4. Check answers.
Writing
1. Let Ss think about their friends’ appearance. Ask them “How do you and your friends compare with the people in the article?”
2. Read the sentences in 2d.
3. Let them write five sentences.
(Present the structures on blackboard)
(1) A + be different from B because …
(2) A+ be similar to B because…

 4. Let some Ss read their results to us.
Step4. Post-reading
1. Discuss: In these three people, which one would you prefer to be friend?
2. 2e. Ask Ss,“Which saying about friends is your favorite?” And let them tell their partner.
Step5. Conclusion
T: This lesson we’ve learned 3 articles about friendship in 3 different people. They are Jeff Green, he is quieter and more serious than most kids, and it’s difficult for him to make friends; Huang Lei, he is shorter and shyer than his friend and more hard-working; Mary Smith, she is not funnier than her friend Carol.
Step6. Homework
1. Copy the new words one by one;
2. Translate the important knowledge points ;
3. Finish the exercise books;
4. Recite the 1st passage.
