Go for it 7A Unit 4 –Where’s my schoolbag?
The first period (第一课时)
Background information:
Students:48 junior high school students, Grade 1
Gender: 20 boys; 28 girls
Ages:14 years old
Lesson duration: 40mins
Teaching objectives:
Knowledge objectives:
1) Grasp the words about the furnitures,such as table,chair,sofa and so on;
2) Grasp some sentences to describe the positions of the things
Ability objectives:
learn to asking the location of the object and confirm the position;
2) use the sentences to have a little talk about the things’ position.
Emotion ability:
Cultivate the habit of keeping neat and a good virtue to help others.
Important points:
learn some words of furnitures
Learn the usage of some direction prepositions, such as in, on, under;
Difficult points: How to use the direction prepositions and where sentence talk about the right position of things.
Teaching contents:
New words: table, chair, bookcase,dresser,chair,drawer, plant, on, under
New sentences:
1)Where is .....? It is on/ under/in/....
2)where are .....? They are .....
Teaching aids: blackboard, chalk, multimedia, paper, pictures, box, ball.

Purpose

Step 1: lead-in

Memory challenge.
Give two pictures which B picture is missing some things. Memorize the missing things’ positions.
 Arouse their interests about preposition of things and brisk the class atmosphere.

Step2:
New words
Show the picture of things on the screen but hide half of them. Make the students look it and verify the words.
Teach the new words: bookcase, sofa, dresser, drawer.etc
Make students build a relationship with previous knowledge, help them use it flexibly,make them have a satisfaction of autonomous learning.

Step3:
New sentences
1)Present the key sentence patterns by using box, ball and erasers.
2)Practice the key sentence patterns by pictures.
Remove students’visual sense, deepen the impression of the new sentences.

Step4 :
Work in pairs
Ss practice the new words and new sentences according to the pictures in PPT.
Students practice how to use these sentence patterns in pairs in order to develope ss’collaborate ability.

Step5:
Group working
1)Find the differences

2)Guessing game
1)Have a clear understanding of the position and the furnitures.
2)Improve the students’ communicative ability and practice how to ask questions about positions.

Step 6 :
Summary
Summarize what students have learnt in this lesson.(ss summarize it first, teacher systematize the whole class knowledge.
Improve students’ confidence and make them have a systematized understanding.


Step 7:
Homework
Describe your bedroom in 5 sentences.
Students are supposed to review the sentence patterns first.
Consolidate what they have learnt in this period.


Reflections:
First of all, Students are the center of class and teachers are supposed to be the assistants in class.
Secondly, it is important to arouse students’ interests about the lesson.
Thirdly, practice in English is very important, not only in writing but also in speaking.
Fourthly, group work and pair work is necessary in class teaching, it is vital to develop students’ collaborative spirits.
