Warming up
Good morning. Welcome back to school.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Will people have robots in their home in 50 years? Will there be …?
Will is used here to express future event.
More examples: I will have English classes this afternoon. He won’t go to school tomorrow.
The form of the usage is: will+ verb.
Now let’s have a game to make sentences with will to see who will say the most sentences with will.
1a Reading and checking
Now let’s go to page 49. There are 6 statements here. Read them and check A if you agree with the prediction. If you disagree with the prediction, check D.
1b Listening and circling
Listen and circle the predictions you hear in activity 1a.
Now go to page 101 to read this conversation. While reading try to find all the sentences with will. And also cut/ the sentence into thought groups, study all the predicates, circle all the linking words and underline all the expressions. That’s grammar study, indeed.

1c Pairing and speaking
Do you predict? Now in pairs ask and answer predicting about the future using will.
Eg.
A: Will people use money in 100 years?
B: No, they won’t. Everything will be free. Will people live to 200 years old?
A: Yes, they will.
A: Will people have robots in their homes?
B: Yes, they will.
A: Will books be only on computers?
B: No, they won’t. There will be still paper books in the future.
A: Won’t kids go to school?
B: Yes, they will. But they will have robot teacher teaching them English!
2a Listening and circling
Now we are going to listen and circle the words we hear.
2b Listening and checking
You are to listen again. Check the predictions you hear on page 50
. 2c GROUPWORK
We hear predictions about the future just now. Now you are going to work in groups. Make predictions about the future, will you?
Eg.
A: I think there will be more pollution.
B: Well, I don’t agree. But I think there will be fewer trees.
A: I agree.
A: I think there will be less free time.
B: Well, I don’t agree. But I think there will be fewer subways.
A: I agree.
A: I think there will be more water.
B: Well, I don’t agree. But I think there will be fewer boats and ships.
A: I agree.
