It’s my great honor to be here and say something about “ Module 5 Unit 2 Can Sam play football?”I’d like to analyse my ideas through the following nine aspects: the analysis of the teaching materials, the analysis of the situations ,the analysis of the students’ advantages, teaching methods ,teaching aims, teaching points, teaching aids ,teaching process and the blackboard design.
一. Analysis of the teaching materials
“This unit is in Book Two (starting from Grade Three ) published by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Process.
The specific content is“ Two teachers are making a survey of sports.”
The knowledge of the language is“They have learned “football,basketball,table tennis, ride,swim,skip,skate,fly”in Book1 Module3 and Module 7 , “play football,ride a bike,fly kites” in Book2 Module 5 and Module 7, “she’s,he’s”in Book 2 Module 9,“tall”in Book 2 Module 2 , “take pictures,read a book,running,row a boat,sing,dance” in Book3 Module 2 and Module 3 .They have also learned “Can you run fast? Can you ride fast?Can you jump far? Can you jump high? ”and “Yes,I can.No,I can’t.” in Book3 Module 5 Unit 1.They will learn “Can Sam play football?Can Lingling play basketball?”and “Yes,he can./Yes,she can.” According to the new standard English,they should use the knowledge correctly,but maybe some of them have forgotten it.So today we will review the knowledge and learn the new extension of the setence pattern”Can you …?”
The pragmatic function of this unit is “The students make a survey of the family sporting meeting.“
二.Analysis of the situations

65 % of students live in the county. 35% of students live in the village near the school.

三.Analysis of the advantages
100% of students have learned English from Grade Three.They have a certain amount of listening,speaking and reading.They can use the basic sentences in the real life .
100% of the students like their English teacher. In their class they can participate and interact actively.
98% of the students prefer cooperation in groups to help each other and improve together.
Learning Style : 25% of students are auditory, 28% of students are visual, 27% of students are kinesthetic, 20% of students are integrated.
四.Teaching methods
According to the analyses,I design a practical task.It create a real situation . I design the situation of making a survey of the family sports meeting.
In the teaching process, I also design various forms of supports, such as situational supports, problems,pictures,questions and so on. It’s easy for the students to understand and use the knowledge correctly.
I create a perfect assessment system. I evaluate the students from every aspect in order to arouse their interest.
TPR is a good teaching method.The students can learn English actively with the help of the eyes ,ears,mouths,hands and the brain.
The students’abilities of the cooperation and participation will be improved in group work.
I also use the multi-media . The whole teaching process is conformed with the multi-media. It’s colourful and animated.
五.Teaching aims
Aims on the knowledge:100% of the students can understand the meaning of the story.90% of students can listen ,speak and read the new words”strong,star” and the key sentences”Can Sam play football ?Can Lingling play basketball?Yes,he can.Yes,she can.”skillfully .10% of students can do it with the help of others.
Aims on the ability: 100% of students can ask and answer”Can Sam play football? Can Lingling play basketball?Yes,he can.Yes,she can.” 100% of students can distinguish “ he” and “she” .
Aims on the emotion: 100% of the students appreciate “English is the real life.” in the process of finishing the task.100% of students experience the joy of cooperation through the group work. 100% of students’confidence will be improved.
Aims on the use: 95% of students make a survey of the family sports meeting. 5% of students paiticipate with the help of others.
六.Teaching points
Key points:
The students can listen ,speak and read the new words”strong,star” and the key sentences “Can Sam play football? Can Lingling play basketball? Yes,he can.Yes,she can.”
Difficult points:
The students can make a survey of the family sports meeting skillfully.The students can use the English in the real life correctly.Their confidence will be improved.
七.Teaching aids
In this lesson ,a printed form,lots of stars,the multi media, an U disk ,a CD-ROM will be needed. If the students do well, they can get more stars for their groups. They are helpful for the students’ learning.
八.Teaching process
I’m going to talk about the teaching process. It’s the most important aspect .In this section, it includes seven steps.
Step 1 .Warming-up
We are going to have a sports meeting.But we don’t know what our parents can do and what they can’t do.We will make a survey after learning this unit.If you do well,you can get many stars for your group.Let’s go.
a.At the beginning ,there is a pretty chant written by myself.We chant like this”Run fast,Can you run fast?Yes,I can.Ride fast, Can you ride fast?Yes,I can. Jump high, Can you jump high?Yes,I can.Jump far, Can you jump far?Yes,I can .”
b. And then,we will play a game”Throw and say.”on Page 31 to practise “Can you …?Yes,I can./No,I can’t..
c.At last,we sing the chant on Page 29.
【Purpose】It’s easy for the students to review the knowledge with various forms and nice rhythm.
Step 2.Leading- in
a.After singing the chant,I ask one student”Can you swim?”The student maybe say “Yes,I can.”I show the pictures of Sun Yang and I ask them”Can Sun Yang swim?””Yes,he can.””Can Sun Yang sing?Yes,he can.Can Zhou Jielun sing?Yes,he can.Can Zhou Jielun play basketball?Yes,he can.Can Yao Ming play basketball?Yes,he can.He’s our star.”( I write “star” on the blackboard.)
【Purpose】The students can understand and unify the pronouns in questions and answers.At the same time ,they learn the new word “star”.
b.Yao Ming is strong.Zou Shiming is strong.And this little boy is strong,too.But it’s not true because of the distorting mirror.( I write”strong” on the blackboard.)
【Purpose】The students can learn the new word”strong” easily with the help
of the pictures.
c.He becomes tall,but Yao Ming is really tall.It’s a strong point for him to play basketball.
【Purpose】The students can review “tall”and learn”strong”through the contrasts.
d.I show four pictures and ask “Can she play basketball?Can she sing?Can she dance?Can she take pictures?”The students maybe say “Yes,she can.”
【Purpose】The students can distinguish “she” and “he”.
Step3.Presentation
a.Listen and answer.Before listening ,I give one question:”Who are they talking about ?”The students listen without sentences and find the answer:”They are talking about Sam and Amy.”
b.At the second time ,they will listen and answer the questions”Can Sam play football?Can Lingling play basketball?(I write them on the blackboard.)
c.At the third time ,they will find the answer of the two questions “Is Sam strong? Is Lingling tall?”
【Purpose】It’s a good chance to practise their listening ability and learn how to master the main words and the main sentences. And the students can have a deeper understanding to the text step by step.
d.Listen and imitate. The students watch the cartoon and imitate with the sentences.
【Purpose】It’s important and useful for the students to imitate the pronunciation and intonation.
e.After that ,they act it out in groups.
【Purpose】They learn English and practise English.It’s a chance for the students to present themselves.
Step 4 .Practice
I design an exercise”Read and match.”
【Purpose】The students can distinguish “she” and “he”by doing this exercise effectively.
Step 5.Consolidation
a.Sun Yang can swim,but he can’t play football.Yao Ming can play football,but he can’t swim.
【Purpose】The students know”We can do something and we can’t do something.It’s normal for us.”
b.Do Exercise Three.That’s “Amy can’t run fast….”
【Purpose】This exercise can train their ability of using “can’t” .
c.Make a survey of the family sports meeting.
We are going to have a sports meeting.But we don’t know what our parents can do and what they can’t do.According to the form ,please ask and answer “Can your mother/father play football?...”in groups.
【Purpose】It cultivate the students’ abilities of cooperation and participation by group-working. At the same time, they practise the sentence pattern and know” English is the real life.”
d.Sing a song”Can I help you?”
【Purpose】They sing songs and relax themselves.In addition,it’s an extension of the sentence pattern “Can Sam play football?” to sing “Can I help you?”It’s prepared for next module”Can I have some sweets?”
Step 6. Summary
a.Count how many stars every group has got and select the winner.
【Purpose】They prefer the cooperration and interaction in group work.
b.Read the new words and the key sentences on the blackboard.
【Purpose】They can review the new words and the key sentences.
Step 7. Homework
a.Listen and imitate the text three times.
b.Make a survey of your other family members .
【Purpose】The first homework is designed for all of the students.It’s important to imitate the real English.The sencond homework is designed for some excellent students.They ca
